i wanna start off by saying that i don't hate valentine's day - it's a very lovely and nice holiday to be sure, it's not my place to be bitter just because i don't have someone who labels themseleves as mine to "share" it with. but i do think the idea is rather off a little. i don't think you should need a day to remind you of how much you love someone, or a "special day" to give you reason to do something special for the one who means the most to you. i also don't think people should be love elitests and think that they can only get something for someone if they are their "boyfriend/girlfriend". i mean, it's all about the love - keeping it real. i love my best friend, and not that i need a reason to show her how much she means to me, but i shouldn't have to feel odd about doing something nice on a day devoted to remembering the gift of love. honestly, if i, or anyone like me, had to wait to celebrate love until they had an actual significant other, then we would forget what love was. in a land where the nice guy NEVER gets the girl (ask kildoo or myself), and where everyone wants to be a hopeless romantic but no one wants to be WITH a hopeless romantic, well... love is hopeless. so i say that if you got MADD love for someone - tell them, show them, love them. there's no better time than the present, and don't let stupid american gender role ideas allow you to shy away from doing just that. just because we are america doesn't make us the end all. the fact that we can love and have people who love us in return in spite of ourselves... now that is what it's all about. so happy valentine's day - if you're reading this, chances are i love ya!

as always, keeping it real... REAL real...
