TIME OUT. (Preliminary apology for the long post here) I'm sorry.
My infamous survey post has been deleted.
It could serve as some kind of "statement", I guess, but I did it simply because I felt bad that Jess deleted all her posts.
It's not my idea that any of us should be censored, I have never edited or deleted anyone's stuff, cause I wanted to see this thing rise up to greatness, not to see it fall by inner strife. So, to those who may think I've been plotting some kind of totalitarian rule over this speck of the web, think again. I already rule Greensboro :)
Let's get this straight...it is true that some readers would rather see this site as guys only. I guess that comes with the territory of The Brotherhood being nominally male. But I wanted to give Jess a chance to post since she'd been so nice to me lately and she seemed like she really had something to say. Her request was innocent enough and I was honored, as always, to invite a new writer on, especially since I consider her to have such a potential for quality posts. So far I haven't seen that, but my comment regarding there being no visible point to women posting was not to deride her as much as to challenge her to make a point. I was truthfully a little fed up by her comments against the "survey posts". But whatever Jess lacks in tact she makes up for in cunning. I long to see this improved upon.
I have full faith that, for whatever it's worth, there could be really great stuff on this page. It seems silly to talk of it as the construction of some kind of great empire, but my love for writing means that I love the practice of it. Nowhere else do we have this chance to bleed our souls into the web in a collective mish mash of insanity.
It is nitpicking to make such a riot over one person's long post instead of finding something new to say. However, we could all be held guilty of this charge. I would ask the Brothers to be less harsh on long posts, as both Nate Beard and I are oft famous for writing these, and I would be bitter about not seeing more of Nate Beard's continual New Jersey narrative spilling forth into our NC lives.
In return, I'll go easy on short posts and stealth IMings.
That having been said, Matt and Jessica are the two newest posters. By an odd design, one is known almost exclusively inside the Brotherhood, while one is in essence exclusively known to the readers. I would ask Jess to refrain from insulting Matt until some root of visible folly has been established, the snide remark against him was my main quip to begin with....I felt that I had to retaliate for him, since he does not have the heart to plot fierce words against a virtual stranger.
Alright, so, we're all cool? Maybe? Okay.
So, to the ladies who still don't have posting privileges, I apologize.
To the worthy men who do not have those privileges either, I apologize.
To Jess, our venerated and respected sole female brother, I apologize.
I should probably never post again. Someone needs to assume my role as moderator. I can only assume that it will be Mikey, since he's the only original Brother left in Greensboro anyway.
To anyone who really really wants to post, ask Mikey, I'm sure he can work it out. But let's try to go somewhere beyond just continuing the Love Bucket Saga. :)
(Which is kinda funny)
Something about encouraging Brothers toward good deeds....it's in one of those letters....I'm out.
