Okay,
So the fact that The Brotherhood has now become the Nate Show is both bogus and sad. You mean to tell me that in the 3 weeks I have not been on pass that only a single, short (yet still witty) post by John has been all to grace the pages of the Bro'hoodwy?
You guys need some serious layin'itonthick.
So I'll tell you what's been going down in B 2/58 town.
We just had a pretty rockin' week. Camped out pretty much the whole week, except we had to go get our Class A uniforms from Reception Battalion. Yeah, Class As, the supposedly snazzy lookin ones with the funny caps and plastic shoes. I prefer to call them Class Gays.
Anyway,
like I said. Pretty much did bivouac all week. And we were doing MOUT training, which stands for Mission Operations in Urban Terrain or something like that. But really all it is is they teach you how to carry your weapon when you're turning corners and entering rooms and stuff. Basically telling you all this technical stuff that sets you up for failure, because you'll have to unlearn it all before you go and do the actual urban assault training, or whatever, when you get to your actual unit.
And this week we will be learning MUDF...which is Movement Under Direct Fire. I wish I knew what the heck it meant beyond the obvious, but since last week was pretty cool, for the fact that we got to wear cool laser tag-ish equipment and run around and throw fake grenades and fire blanks with our M-16s, I'm expecting leisurely entertainment from this next block.
Surely I'm taking it seriously...but I'm in a caffeine buzzy mood right now, which is probably exceptionally more entertaining than the mood I'm usually in when I write my letters home...that 9PM, "just got done with 16 hours of training" kind of funk.
So DS Paul says we really have 3 weeks of training left, and then we have our FTX, and then we actually don't do much of anything on our last week except clean all our equipment up really well, turn it in, and clean the bays really well, and then just wait for our graduation. All 15 minutes of it.
Family day is the day before graduation, and that's the day that I can really hang out with people. So for folks that are wondering if they can come down for the ceremonies, hey, the more the merrier, I will be dividing my attention between family and friends and so...you know, we'll figure it out.

Anyway, training has been amusing, because the drill sergeants were in a really good mood the last half of this week, and DS Saldana from 2nd Platoon, DS Paul from 1st, and Sergeant Croak, our roughneck DS-in-training were all getting a kick out of 3rd platoon's drill sergeant impressions on Friday afternoon. Then the First Sergeant was wiling out during a tabasco sauce drinking contest. It's like we passed into a parallel dimension where the totem rules of Army reality don't apply. Or maybe it was just a little bit of well deserved fun.
